ABERYSTWYTH'S STARLINGS and PIED WAGTAILS

The Starlings put on a really good show this evening and were disturbed a few times by a Sparrowhawk drifting low beside the pier. Eventually, from above the Old College, it dived at great speed and took on the appearance of a Peregrine. It caught a Starling low over the rocks where it settled with its prey for a while. Fortunately Vas had joined me and caught it (her) on camera. I look forward to seeing his pictures.
A lovely sunset then followed.
It was dark when I was about to leave town so I took the opportunity to see the roosting Pied Wagtails in Portland Street. Numbers would seem to be down but it was still a charming sight.
