New Quay

There was a Black Redstart in ‘residence’ under the vertical drop below the lookout at Birds rock at the start of the  year. I saw another at Castell Bach on 7th March (both females so could have been the same bird). My 1st swallow 25th March over the house. On the 3rd April there was an Iceland Gull amongst the usual suspects at the fish factory. It seemed to be close to maturity – 3rd yr. ? On the same day the local pair of Peregrines were very active and seemed to be partaking in aerial courtship.
