Field trip bird list

Nine people turned out for the field trip on Sunday and were rewarded
with weather far better than was promised in the forecast. We enjoyed a
dry but muddy walk in Coed y Foel and a stroll along the local roads.
Some of us arrived early to search for the elusive lesser-spotted
woodpecker but were unlucky this time!
Here is the list: blue tit, great tit, coal tit, marsh tit, long-tailed tit, wren, dipper,
grey wagtail, great spotted woodpecker, nuthatch, crow, jay, magpie,
buzzard, kite, sparrowhawk, siskin, chaffinch, bullfinch, chiffchaff,
robin, song thrush, blackbird, mistle thrush (with nest building
activity), treecreeper, goldcrest, wood pigeon, Canada goose, and
cormorant.

Thanks to Ian for a very enjoyable walk and for introducing us to a
wood and an area that was new to most of the group. I am sure many of
us will be returning later in the spring to see what is about.
