On arrival at Ynyslas this morning a scan across the estuary produced very little except for a large brown duck asleep on a sandbank. I got as close as I could (see photo 1), and soon decided it was indeed the King Eider which flew off from Aberaeron last Thursday.
Despite problems with text messaging I was able to contact Bob and Russell, who soon arrived and we watched the bird until it eventually decided to stir itself, waddled to the river and then flew over to the mouth of the Leri to feed.
