Every winter sees large mixed  flocks of Golden Plover
plus Lapwing feeding on open fields around and to NE of Post Bach (south of
Synod Inn).  Hadn’t seen any this winter but on Tuesday (26/12/17) spotted
circa 1,000 nr Post Bach. Unusually, these were nearly all (? 95%) Lapwing with
a few Golden Plover and BH Gulls.
These flocks  always tend to stick to large open areas
of short, semi-improved grassland above about 250m.
Nice to see them back; now where are the Golden Plover
which usually outnumber the Lapwing?
