Hobby and Lapwing chicks

Yesterday was a good day!  Early in the morning I saw 2 very young Lapwing chicks on the Boardwalk pond Cors Caron with parents on guard nearby and then when I reached the waiting room a curlew flew in to bathe and return to the high dome before Andy Polkey arrived doing his bird count.
Andy explained the major works due to start soon on the bog as part of the restoration programme designed to offset climate change.

Later an adult Hobby, with blazing thighs, gave a superb flying display whilst eating a prey item held in its feet over a small piece of upland bog near Tyn Y Graig. A kestrel was nearby but there was no interaction between the two...perhaps an occupant of a nearby nestbox installed by the WWWT.
Unfortunately the lapwings  who have raised a chick in 2 previous years were not present.
