Puffin and Teifi news

An unusual sighting of a Puffin off Cardigan Island today.
Spotted by the crew of a Bay to Remember boat.

It was very foggy out there and despite a look out to sea from the Cliff Hotel path it was impossible to see beyond the rocks.

There are still a good number of waders migrating through the Teifi. On Patch and by Swallow Boats on Coronation Drive there were 50 Sanderling, over 200 Dunlin and 30 Ringed Plover.

Teifi Marsh Swans at Mallard pond have bred successfully this year with 4 cygnets  now out on the river by Cardigan by-pass bridge. The reed bed is buzzing with Reed Warblers singing now but repeated walks around the reserve have drawn a blank for Cetti's Warblers, normally very vocal from several territories. Other sites around the country have reported similar. Maybe the very cold weather in April has had a significant detrimental effect.
