ARGEN* THE GULL

Back from Castle Point and there was Argen, a regular visitor to St David's Quay since well before it could fly and seemingly without parent birds to look after it. It gets well fed here and now can fly strongly.
Two of the resident cats simply ignore it and the third, a big hunter of a beast, is frightened of it.
*Named after a lovely book published in the 1960s, "Argen the Gull", a fictional tale of the life of a Herring Gull on the Canadian coast. American Herring Gulls, Larus smithsonianus,  have since been split from the Herring Gull, Larus argentatus, so any reprint of the book should be retitled "Smith the Gull", but that hardly has the same ring about it.
