Running from
mid-August to mid-October the BTO will be running a national structured survey
on Tawny Owls. Following on from comparable national surveys carried in 1989 and
2005 this survey will examine long-term population and occupancy trends. Owls
are recorded rarely in regular surveys since they are mainly nocturnal. Your
help is needed to learn more about this mysterious and fascinating bird. Please
check out the Tawny Owl Point
Survey information page now to learn more about
the survey and I hope that many of you will sign up.
Go to https://bto.org/volunteer-surveys/project-owl.
The survey formally starts running on the 15th August Coming Soon
The Tawny Owl Calling Survey
Then starting at the end of September and running until the end of March there will be the Tawny Owl Calling Survey. This is a weekly 20 minute survey that can be carried out from the comfort of your own home or pretty much anywhere else you can visit multiple times.
