Then a look at the sea from near the golf clubhouse was rewarded with three Red-throated Divers: still in breeding plumage as the early returning birds often are, Many more Sandwich Terns feeding all along the coast, mainly inshore. With the birds at the point there must have been over 300 in total. As I was watching one of them a Little Tern flew into my scope view.
Then a rear view of a small bird resting on the sea had me guessing until it eventually swung round, revealing itself as a 2w Little Gull.
Dave Purdon came along and joined me and we had a look at some of the closer of the 35 or so auks. Fairly even distribution between Guillemots and Razorbills.
Other odds and ends were ca25 Common Scoter, a few Gannets and a Harbour Porpoise.
A lovely sunny morning, calm sea and lots of birds. Who said Friday the 13th was unlucky?. I didn't even mind missing the first hour of the cricket.
