the silent marshes

Another disappointing session this morning at Glandyfi . Where have all the breeding waders gone? The Meirionnydd marshes used to support the Dyfi's biggest redshank colony, and good numbers of lapwings and snipe, and (in the more distant past) the occasional curlew. Again today not one was seen, -yet another tragic loss.
The best birds I've seen during the last 7 days has been distant osprey (at nest),  a couple of common sandpipers, 19 goosander and a single peregrine on 23rd. All I could find today apart from an osprey were 2 little egrets and a male goosander. The most numerous species present were herring and great black backed gulls, and carrion crows.
