Short Eared Owl, Llanrhystud

As I walked from Llanrhystud car park towards the lime kilns at 2:30pm, a short eared owl flew across the first field and headed over the next field towards the caravan site.

I hadn’t gone down to look for birds but to continue clearing the footpath which heads directly from the kilns to the road. This path is part of a circular walk I do from Llanon. It goes up Cwm Peris to Alltgoch farm, left down to the A487, turn right then turn left after 200 yds. This path leads to the kilns from where you can walk back to Llanon. Cwm Peris has a deciduous woodland as well as the fast flowing Afon Peris so the walk offers a varied selection of habitats.
