Quite a gathering at Castle Point this morning, with Paul Bennett, Martin Creasser and friend, and Nia, a young student who was looking for birds to impress her dad.
Offshore, hundreds of Manx Shearwaters and good numbers of Gannets. A Red-throated Diver went north, as did three Sandwich Terns. Two Whimbrel lingered on and around the rocks. Paul and I then went to Borth, more of the same with at least 30 Sandwich Terns between Upper Borth and Ynyslas.
Then:to the brickhouse, where at least 12 Red-throated Divers on the sea and a pair pof Peregrines flew north close inshore. Moving on to Ynys-hir, where the highlight for me was great views of three Pied Flycatchers and Paul heard a Whimbrel. We ended up at Glandyfi layby, where Martin and friend present. Two Ospreys visible at the nest, a Great White Egret and two Wheateaars on the opposite bank of the Dyfi.
