ABERYSTWYTH

On 31st August Chris Bird noted a couple of colour-ringed Mediterranean Gulls on College Rocks: WHITE 36NK, ringed when at least 3CY on 18th May this year at a site on the Netherlands coast. Next seen by Chris. WHITE 3TR9, ringed as 3CY on 20th May this year at another Netherlands coastal site. On 12th July it was seen at Zeebrugge, Belgium, 5th August in Fishguard harbour, 10th June by Arfon Williams at Llanon and then by Chris. A while ago I remarked on this interesting post-breeding movement of Mediterranean Gulls from varous Continental sites, birds flying west or sometimes slightly north-west and finally ending up on the Ceredigion coast before, as autumn gets under way, flying south to sites including those on the Atlantic coast of France and sites in Spain and Portugal.
