chill factor

Here on the edge of Cors Caron we have similar garden birds to Mike but only occasional over-flying siskins. Glad to report wren, treecreeper and willow tit all feeding well. The permanently un-frozen damp patch in the wood hosts the snipe and 2 woodcock. A large dark buzzard has been sitting above our house feeding station waiting for a casualty and it has scoffed meat put out for the kites.
Down on the edge of the bog water rail and woodcock are using unfrozen patches in the willow carr but the rest is desolate as all the ponds are frozen.

Re other blogs check out the news on Pembs site;birds flying south and west from here are not finding much comfort and lapwings have been seen over-flying Ramsey on their way to Ireland.
Leafie of Radnor blog has won Birdguides photo of the week with an amazing night time flight shot of a woodcock. Hope not too many other people try it at the moment!
