Now 3 Spotted Flycatchers in the garden, a pair and spare male I think so arrivals definitely late this year.
I usually have 2 or 3 pairs in the garden.
Nest predation by Jays and Magpies has been a problem over the years so the nest boxes are protected by a chicken wire ‘balloon’.
The spotties fly through it quite happily and even when I put one over a twice predated nest in some creepers after eggs were laid, the hen flew straight back in and later fledged 3.
A Cuckoo and very vocal Garden Warbler also in the garden.
