Ynyslas - High Tide this morning

One of the largest congregations of waders - predominantly Dunlin and Ringed Plover I have seen for a long time down at the point this morning. I took a series of photos of the largest pack and then enlarged on the screen to get a count - 1474 birds - in the ratio of approximately 4:1 in favour of Dunlin. The attached photo is of two shots combined. In total it took 14 shots to cover the whole sweep of the flock along the shore line. Needless to say there was some overlapping to enable correct juxtapositioning. There were some further smaller flocks of both species along the shore so the total must have been a lot higher.

In addition to the Dunlin and Ringed Plovs there was a party of fourteen Golden Plover and a single lone Sanderling.
