Empty seas

Conditions seemed the same as yesterday morning so up I got at 5.30am for another few hours staring out to sea at Borth, anticipating hordes of shearwaters. After a quarter of an hour I had only seen around 80 distant shearwaters and by 7.00am my tally was in the low hundreds with only a few distant gannets and a couple of whimbrel to add variety. I have no idea why there was so little movement this morning and although I vowed to have a lie in tomorrow I expect I will be there again, early, just in case.
