A couple of hours at Llanrhystud this afternoon produced a good number of migrants with the most obvious species being Swallow with hundreds heading north plus a few House Martins and the odd Swift mixed in for good measure. Over 20 Wheatears were scattered between the car park and lime kilns with the majority being Greenlands also present were a couple of cracking males Whinchats. A flock of wagtails along the pebble ridge consisted predominantly of Whites (25 +) with a few Pieds and a single Yellow.
The flooded area behind the beach held a small flock of Black-headed Gulls, a couple of 1st year Meds and a few Lesser Black-backed Gulls (passage birds). Also present were 15 Whimbrel, 2 very smart summer plumage Bar-tailed Godwits, 2 Common Sands and 38 Dunlins all in breeding plumage.
