Unfortunately, unforseen circumstancess forced us to abandon ideas of joining others at Broadwater. Later in the day we went up to Cross Inn and I was amazed to see the difference in the area, what with extensive clear-felling and extraordinary new growth of existing young trees, in just 12 months. Raven, Crossbill, Siskin, Goldcrest, Buzzard, Longtailed Tit and a small party of Fieldfares feeding avidly on Rowan.
A good experience in excellent weather for a first outing on foot for a year.
At home there have been several skeins of geese about, unusual for us, but distance and/or bright sky background hindered any sort of identification. On the feeders one juv Goldfinch still in fledgling colouring.
