There were still four Purple Sandpipers on the wall near Castle Point at high tide this morning, which got me thinking how much longer could they be here.
Checking through the Ceredigion Bird Reports and Birds of Ceredigion, the latest records in recent years have been on the 23rd May 1993 and 2009, and the all time latest was the 26th May 1932.
Looking through the blog archive, I noted Mike Hayward's posting on the 19th May last year posing the same question.
It would be interesting if someone could check the roost each day from now on to see if we can beat the recent latest date, or even the 1932 record.
