Yesterday I watched two Grey Wagtails carefully dipping nesting material (wool by the looks of it) into the water before taking it into a crevice where I assume the birds are building a nest.
They were doing the same again today.
I wonder what this procedure is all about - Does it make the wool stick/bind to the structure?
Or does it clean it, get rid of parasites perhaps??
