Red Grouse

Having been dry & sunny for nearly a week in Ceredigion I ventured into the high remote area between the Hengwm & Hyddgen rivers today on the ceredigion boundary hoping to spot a Hen Harrier. No Harriers unfortunately, but I did flush a Red Grouse from a heathery area, the first I have seen on the Pumlumon Massif.
On the previous day did Aber to Borth along the beach & on rounding a headland near Cormorants Rock startled a pair of Peregrines busily plucking what I think was possibly a pigeon in a cove on the beach. The head had been eaten so it  was difficult identifying  it. However the No on on the plastic? leg ring was H 217072 .  Does anyone know whether that is a homing pigeon No. or a tracking No.
