YNYSLAS

Some of the 60 Sandwich Terns at Ynyslas this morning at high tide:

In the distance the female King Eider could be seen and on the saltmarsh by the Leri there were 4 Whimbrel.
A small party of Swifts drifted north and some Swallows were also heading in that direction. Yesterday I noticed a steady movement of Swallows and Martins heading north, low over the harbour at Aberystwyth.
This afternoon I was watching a young Herring Gull begging for food from an adult on the rocks in the harbour. The adult suddenly mounted the young bird and for several seconds appeared to be mating. The youngster seemed a bit surprised.
