High tide at Ynys-hir

I spent a very pleasant hour and a half in the Ynys Feurig hide with Red Liford this morning.  A lovely spring-like day, especially when the sun came out.
Good numbers of waders on the pools included 229 Curlews, 185 Redshank, at least 100 Dunlin, seven Black-tailed and one Bar-tailed Godwit and the usual Spotted Redshank, as well as large numbers of Lapwings.
Also on the pools were good numbers of Teal, five Shoveler and a few Shelduck,  Pintail and Wigeon, with more on the river.
Also on the river: eight Red-breasted Mergansers and three Great Crested Grebes, while Red picked out the Red-breasted Goose in a field to the west.
Back at the visitor centre the two pairs of Gadwall were still on the pool below and a Brimstone added another touch of spring.
