Ynys-hir

A total of 65 species seen at Ynys-hir yesterday. Highlights being a lovely ringtail hen harrier seen from Ynys Feurig hide, followed by a female merlin which flew straight towards us and landed very briefly in a tree to the side of the hide. The hen harrier was seen again later in the day from Domen Las hide. Others included water rail, Cetti’s warbler, a few pintail, good numbers of curlew and barnacle geese along with an otter seen swimming up the estuary.

Ewan Turner

Good to know that Ewan has got together with some other student birders and formed an ornithological society.  Above is an account of their outing to RSPB Ynys-hir yesterday.
