Too high a tide!

At Ynys-hir RSPB reserve this morning the tide was the highest I have seen it in my 24 years on-site. At one point it was coming over the railway line and it has breached the Marian Mawr sea defenses. As a result, the reserve is rather saturated; the Saltings, Domen las and Breakwater hides and the Ynys Eidiol viewing platform are inaccessible (and I do not advise trying to get to them). Despite this there were good numbers of birds in front of the Ynys Feurig hide roosting at high tide which included a greenshank, a spotted redshank, 5 black-tailed godwits and 18 bar-tailed godwits. Ducks included 160 pintail and 30 shovelers.
