The flooded field behind the breached defences had approx 1000 gulls present. Arfon thought maybe a quarter were Common Gulls and the rest were mostly Black-headed Gulls. Still good numbers of Redshank present-28. Best birds though were 2 Purple Sandpipers, perhaps displaced from Aberystwyth by the stormy weather? As the sea lapped over the top of the shingle bank there was a scary moment when I thought I may have to give Arfon a piggy back but mercifully the moment passed by.
