Med gulls in Aber

Ian, I think the explanation for Med gull population increase in Aberystwyth, particularly at week-ends may be to do  with the town's much admired university.  Scientific study (see papers by Davis, Pepper & Relph) has shown that student's social activities and alcohol ingestion peak on Friday night/Saturday morning, resulting in the regurgitation of copious amounts of pizza, kebab and chips.  Various successful gull species, including Meds are attracted by the state subsidised feast and seem to thrive on it.
