I was busily typing in my home office when I noticed an unusual amount (even for Rook and Jackdaw standards) of commotion and screeming from the rookery at the back of my garden. I looked up at saw this huge seeming bird of prey sitting on top of a Jackdaw on the grass - first thought was Sparrowhawk.
I managed to take some pictures through the window but the bird got so much hassle from circling and diving Rooks and Jackdaws that it left, unfortunately leaving the dying Jackdaw behind. Looking at the pictures I realised this was no Sparrowhawk but a Peregrine - first time I've seen one in the garden. The Jackdaw was lucky to die quite quickly.
