Aberporth seabird extravaganza

You wouldn't think there was a bird out there without using bins.

In fact there was a huge movement of manxies and gannets accompanied by dolphins into the waters between Aberporth and Lochtyn this morning between 6 and 8am.   Moving in the opposite direction came groups of kittiwakes one of which was being harried by 3 Arctic Skuas. Later a mixed group of c40  terns flew in to settle on the sea until drawn into the feeding zone.  The Gannets plunge diving were closely followed by manxies which then surfaced some metres away from the dive zone.

There was so much going on it was difficult to know where to look so the Rock Pips, back in the Aberporth carpark after breeding safely round the corner of the cliffs, were afforded scant attention.

So great to see thousands of birds and so much action.
